Description
D-AIR® RACING SYSTEM Dainese D-Air Racing project Dainese D-Air Racing We would be happy to advise you in our store. INNOVATION With the innovative D-Air® Racing system, Dainese is revolutionizing the concept of protection for motorcycles by offering the maximum level of safety currently possible. D-Air® is the result of more than ten years of continuous research by the D-Tec department, in collaboration with important research institutions such as the University of Padua, which specializes in 2D data collection methods, and the indispensable collaboration of great motorcycle champions on racetracks around the world. D-Air® consists of an airbag that is deployed thanks to an electronic activation system completely independent of the motorcycle. This system is integrated into the racing suit, specifically in the aerodynamic impact protection. The additional weight of 650 g compared to a conventional suit and the system's reduced size ensure continued high levels of riding comfort, excellent wearability and ergonomics. This allows the rider to concentrate on riding or achieve their best performance in complete safety. COMPONENTS The system includes a bag with a capacity of approximately 5 liters, a cold gas generator, and an inertial platform consisting of the following components: an electronic control center, three accelerometers (one for each dimension: x, y, z), three tachometers (one for each dimension: x, y, z), and a GPS sensor. It also includes a user interface with a small activation strap and a multicolored LED on the outside of the sleeve that indicates whether the system is working. The system has an autonomy of approximately 8 hours in continuous operation. HOW IT WORKS Decades of case studies of motorcycle crashes and the resulting trauma, as well as analysis of the damage to the overalls worn during the accident, have made it possible to define various accident dynamics, such as high-siders and low-siders with rolling of the rider's body, which poses a particular risk of injury to the shoulders. D-Air® Racing was developed to better protect the rider's shoulder area, reducing movement in the neck and upper arms and thus preventing dangerous fractures and injuries. The application of this cutting-edge technology reduces the energy transmitted to the body during an impact by 80% compared to conventional EN 1612.1 protectors, as its absorption capacity is ten times greater than that of conventional EN 1612.1 protectors. Dainese's continuous research and commitment to improving safety have resulted in an intelligent activation system that monitors the rider's dynamic behavior, interprets it using specific algorithms, and intervenes in the event of sudden changes, or if the rider loses control of the motorcycle and falls. The suit is designed to house the airbag internally, featuring large elastic inserts made of S1 fabric on the shoulders that allow the bag to expand when the device is deployed. The airbag inflates in less than 50 thousandths of a second and deflates in approximately 5 seconds. TELEMETRY: With D-Air® Racing, Dainese offers sports motorcycling enthusiasts not only an integrated protection system but also an effective tool for measuring their riding behavior. Telemetry data can be stored using a GPS sensor, downloaded at the pits, and then viewed on a personal computer. The GPS sensor displays the rider's position ten times per second, allowing the following data to be monitored using specific software: Lap time (approximately 1/10th of an error), Speed, Acceleration/deceleration, Banking (lean angle relative to the ground), Position
