Alpinestars S-M5 Corp 2024 Motocross Helmet
Description
Alpinestars S-M5 Corp 2024 Motocross Helmet
The all-new SM5 ECE 22.06 helmet was developed to provide MX riders with a helmet that's safe and purposefully engineered to provide optimal protection and comfort. The lightweight SM5 helmet features a thermo-injected shell with a special polymer blend, reinforced with varying thicknesses, designed to provide the optimal combination of impact protection and lightweight. The inner liner is a seven-panel expanded polystyrene (EPS) construction with five different densities of EPS to ensure the right density in the right area for improved impact absorption.
Characteristics:
- The lightweight outer shell is made from a technologically advanced, impact-resistant thermoplastic in three anatomical shell sizes, as well as three individual EPS liner sizes with a combination of liner and cheek padding to offer 6 unique sizes and ensure the best fit and protection
- A constructed, raised area with padding effectively reduces the forces transmitted to the collarbone and a patented helmet peak release system ensures that the helmet peak is released with the correct, predetermined force regardless of the angle of impact
- The lower shell volume of the medium, large, XL, and 2XL models has been made approximately 3% wider to make it easier to put on and take off the helmet. The increase in helmet volume also improved impact management performance, which is now 44% lower than the normal speed threshold.
- For the new ECE 22.06 standard, the SM5 achieves a 44% better impact rating at normal speed compared to the current 33%, as well as a 32% better linear impact rating at low speed and a 31% better linear impact rating at high speed prevailing standard
- The inner and outer surfaces are designed to minimize the effects of angled impacts. To combat and mitigate these rotational impact forces, Alpinestars has developed a proprietary technology by creating a low-friction surface on the inner surface of the EPS liner. According to the ECE 22.06 standard, which now includes rotational oblique impact assessment, the SM5 achieves a rating of 70% under the new regulation.
- Multi-density inner lining to ensure the right density in the right area for improved shock absorption
- Redesigned chin bar profile, with the base area specifically shaped to create a relief area that releases the collarbone, with a new, softer EPS liner that extends beyond the helmet shell itself and is covered with a more flexible rubber compound, reducing the risk of collarbone injury
- Maximum ventilation and high degree of heat exchange through multiple air inlets and outlets
- The helmet peak is designed to direct air into the openings to improve airflow
- Cheek pads with ERS Emergency Release System
- Loops for guiding the drinking tube facilitate the installation of the drinking system
